Guinas councillor calls for support for less fortunate

OMUTHIYA: Guinas constituency councillor, Marthinu Kainda has called on good Samaritans to come on board and support the government in helping less fortunate people in the Nehale Lyampingana Constituency of the Oshikoto Region.

Kainda made the call after the Former Namibian Students to Cuba (FNSC) association delivered food parcels to Nehale Lyampingana residents on Tuesday.

“All good Samaritans must follow in the footsteps of the former students of Cuba,” Kainda said.

He said the donations will go to around 20 households.

FNSC representative Shau Christoph handed over the donation.

“We came together and contributed a few coins and bought the items so we can give a helping hand to these families,” Christoph said.

The items included 20 bags of maize meal, three boxes of cooking oil, 20 mosquito nets, 20 blankets and soup packets.

Christoph said although the donation is small, it will have an impact on the beneficiaries.

“We were taught to share and to love one another in Cuba, so we are extending this love to our communities,” he said.
