The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Keetmanshoop are investigating a case of rape after a 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped at the southern town.
NamPol crime investigations coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Deputy Commissioner Nikodemus Mbango on Monday told Nampa the woman was allegedly raped between 03h00 and 05h00 on Saturday.
It is alleged that the victim was on her way home from a shebeen when she was approached by two women and five men who threatened her with a knife, forced her into a certain vandalised building and tore off her clothes.
“It is alleged that the male suspects had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent and took pictures of her afterwards. The gang left the victim unconscious and when she regained her consciousness, she was still naked and ran home,” said Mbango.
He said the suspects are unknown as some had covered their faces.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
