Eritrean Community Festival Celebrates Unity and Heritage in Dubai

Dubai: The Eritrean community in the United Arab Emirates held its annual festival from January 9 to 11 in Dubai, centered around the theme Our Cohesion - Our Armour. The event saw the involvement of Mr. Mohammed Mahmud Selim, head of the Eritrean Consulate General Office in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and Mr. Tesfu Gebretensae, head of Public and Community Affairs, alongside strong participation from community members.

According to African Press Organization, Mr. Omar Mahmud, chairman of the Eritrean community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, emphasized the role of Eritrean festivals in demonstrating the national unity and cohesion of the Eritrean people. He encouraged increased participation from the community to strengthen these bonds further.

Mr. Alamin Ali, chairman of the Eritrean community in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the importance of festivals in passing on noble societal values to the younger generation. He called on nationals, especially parents, to contribute to the sustainability of these cultural events.

The festival included a photo exhibition showcasing the history of the armed struggle for independence, national development programs, and the culture and way of life of the Eritrean people. It also featured displays on tourism attractions, heritage, and resources, as well as cultural and artistic programs reflecting the activities of the Eritrean community in the United Arab Emirates.
