OTJIWARONGO: A 68-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging on Friday at Kalkfeld settlement in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in a media statement Sunday said the deceased was positively identified on Saturday by his close relatives as Festus Hoeseb from the Build Together location at the settlement.
“His body was found hanging in his sleeping room by his son on Friday night at about 22h45,” Mbeha said.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital this week, she said.
No suicide note was left, and no foul play is suspected so far in connection with the matter, added the police officer.
An inquest docket has been opened at the Kalkfeld Police Station and police investigations continue.
