National Union of Eritrean Women Enhances Development Initiatives in Anseba Region

Anseba: The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) branch in the Anseba Region has announced its ongoing efforts to enhance women's livelihoods and their involvement in development programs. The announcement was made by Ms. Tirhas Nirayo, who leads socio-economic affairs and projects at the regional union branch.

According to African Press Organization, Ms. Tirhas highlighted the union's achievements over the past 16 years, including significant water and soil conservation, afforestation, and biodiversity enhancement activities. The union's members have been actively participating in afforestation initiatives across several areas, including Mihlab, Ira, Debresina, Wara, Deki-Gebru, Gebgabo, Liban, and Habrengeka.

Ms. Tirhas also emphasized the union's efforts to promote nutritious food. In collaboration with partners, the union has introduced backyard poultry farming in the sub-zones of Elaberet and Adi-Tekelezan. Training sessions on poultry farming have been conducted, and financial support has been extended to enable farmers to advance their activities. Additionally, the union has organized training aimed at enhancing beekeeping practices among local farmers.
