Vocational student allegedly commits suicide at Otjiwarongo

A student at the Okakarara Vocational Training Centre allegedly committed suicide by hanging, at Otjiwarongo on Tuesday morning.

The student was on the same day identified by his close relatives as Shipingana Lukas Nghihepavali, said the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha.

Mbeha in an interview told Nampa on Tuesday that the 25-year-old Nghihepavali left behind a suicide note which he addressed to his sister.

According to Mbeha the deceased’s body was found in bushes behind the crocodile farm at the town, hanging with a rope around his neck on a tree by a passer-by who alerted the police at about 06h45 on Tuesday morning.

“Nghihepavali was pursuing studies in automechatronic engineering at the vocational training centre and so far no foul play is suspected,” said Mbeha.

Police investigations continue.
