Rigobert Song takes legal action against two journalists for calling his coaching diploma ‘fake’

Former coach of the Indomitable Lions Rigobert Song has filed a law suit against two journalists Theophile Awana and Pinon Omgba, for saying he possesses a fake coaching certificate.

The remarks were made on a televised programme on Canal 2 International in February, and the coach reacted, promising to file a complaint against the individuals.

The media men have been summoned to appear before the court of first instance in Yaounde on Tuesday, March 19.

The communique signed by Song’s lawyer, barrister Bayebec, indicated that the claims by the journalists are ‘unfounded’.

It added that the statements were ‘not only to harm the image of Mr. Song Bahanag Rigobert, but also and especially his honorability’.

Rigobert Song parted ways with the Indomitable Lions as head coach after his contract ended on February 29.

The Cameroon government through the Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and the Cameroon Football Federation, said the coach’s contract could not be renewed due to insufficient results. His
exit came after the Lions crashed out of the AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire in the round of 16.
