Ouagadougou: The SOS Jeunesse et D©fi association announced on Wednesday the holding of the 2nd edition of the "Brave Awards" initiative, an activity which aims to reward young people involved in the promotion of sexual and reproductive health rights, entrepreneurship, and culture.
According to Burkina Information Agency, applications for the Brave Awards initiative are accepted via a Google Form, from August 6 to 15, 2025. The organizing committee presented the main points of this second edition of the competition on Wednesday. Brave Awards is an initiative of the SOS Jeunesse et D©fi association, aimed at recognizing the merit and distinction of young people and committed actors who have distinguished themselves positively in favor of the promotion of these sectors.
The activity is funded by the NGO Planned Parenthood Global, through the Billi Now Now movement. "We hope that once these talents are selected as brave, they can climb the ladder and go even further, for example by becoming business leaders and employers of other young people," emphasized Etienne Koula, representative of the executive director of the SOS Jeunesse et D©fi association.
The Ministry of Youth has shown its support for this initiative since the first edition, by providing its expertise in the selection of beneficiaries. "The SOS Jeunesse et D©fi association helps ensure that the Ministry of Youth fully plays its sovereign role with young people," said Fid¨le Kabor©, representative of the Ministry of Youth and Employment.
For the selection, a multidisciplinary and multisectoral committee composed of nine members, including two observers, was set up. The criteria used include, among others: proof of community involvement, experience in one of the relevant fields, age (between 15 and 24 years), leadership, integrity, creativity, and membership in the Billi Now Now movement.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for August 28, and a follow-up plan for the recipients is also planned.
