Asmara: The internal sports competitions of the Eritrean Air Force, which are set to continue for over a month, began on 5 August.
According to African Press Organization, Maj. Gen. Teklay Habteselasie, Commander of the Eritrean Air Force, remarked that the internal sports competitions are showing signs of development over time. He stated that the programme reflects the growth of sports activities at the national level and praised the efforts of those who coordinated the successful sports competitions.
Maj. Amanuel Tesfagergis, Promotional and Information Staff Officer of the Air Force, explained that the internal sports competitions are held biennially and feature sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, target shooting, and others. Eight clubs, including participants of both genders, are involved in these competitions.
Maj. Amanuel added that the aim of the sports competitions is to supply the Air Forces Kinfi Club, which competes in the sports events of the Eritrean Defence Forces, with skilled athletes.
