NSA cautions against scammers during census

Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) spokesperson Sakaria Iipumbu has cautioned members of the public to not fall prey to scammers for purported employment or census opportunities.

Iipumbu told Nampa in an interview here on Tuesday that four scamming incidences were recently reported in the country.

“If someone tells you ‘I can get you in for money’, that’s already a scam,” Iipumbu cautioned.

He stated that the Namibian Police and Windhoek City Police have given their assurance that the census will be conducted in a safe and free manner and those attempting to engage in criminal activities and disrupt the 2023 Population and Housing Census, will face the full wrath of the law.

“We also want to caution the nation that we will never ask you to provide sensitive details to unknown people and we will never ask people for money,” said Iipumbu.

He further urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and enumerators to ensure a successful and safe census.

“NSA would like to caution the nation to always verify information on our official website: www.nsa.org.na and not fall prey to scams for employment or census opportunities,” Iipumbu said.
