Fabrice Ondoa wants Onana’s late arrival at AFCON 2023 to be investigated


AFCON 2017 winner and best goalkeeper, Fabrice Ondoa, has called on football authorities to investigate his cousin and national teammate Andre Onana’s late arrival at the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.

Speaking to Footmercato in an interview conducted one month ago and published on March 23, the Nimes substitute goalkeeper, said he does not condone anything or act that goes against the rules.

‘Even if you are my cousin or my best friend, there are certain things that cannot be tolerated in the national team’ he said.

‘As it’s known, 27 players are called to the AFCON, and it is required that they all be fully ready to play.’

Ondoa said questions should be asked about who authorised the Manchester United goalkeeper to arrive just the day the competition was starting.

He condemned the pressure from external parties and a reported imposition of certain players on the coach against his will.

‘It should be noted that there has been external pressure on the president of the federation’ he added. ‘I’ve been part o
f the team for 11 years, and there are certain things that should not be accepted.’

The former Samuel Eto’o Academy, Fundesport recruit, pointed out that he has nothing against his cousin. He said he wants the ‘unacceptable’ practices within the national team to be addressed.

Guneku natives, Meta elites celebrate Michi Ebeng festival in grand stylePM Abiy Says Seedlings Preparation Underway for This Year’s Planting Season

Natives of Guneku village, located in Mbengwi Central subdivision in the North West Region, last Saturday, March 23, 2024, took part in a cultural festival at the Guneku Fon’s Palace, dubbed ‘Michi Ebeng’.

The Michi Ebeng festival in its second edition took place for two days, culminating on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with 13 Meta Kwem dance groups competing to revive Meta kwem cultural dance amongst other issues.

The Fon of Guneku village welcomed all present while hoping that the Cultural festival would unite the Meta people as well as help revive the Meta culture in its entirety.

The President of the organizing committee, Fongoh P. Anyeh a journalist, and the President of Meta Fons Union (MEFU) HRH. Dr.Fombo, and the MECUDA President General Prof. Njoh Oliver each took turns to address the mammoth crowd all stressing the importance of Meta culture being revived and maintained.

The Kwem dance display proper was accompanied by the showcasing of Meta-rich cultural artifacts.

oree ended with Guneku Kwem dance group picking up the first position, followed by Buea Kwem dance Group and Tua-Chup Kwem dance for the third position. The rendezvous for the 3rd edition of the Michi Ebeng Festival was announced for April 12, 2025.

The Cultural Festival focused on the Nkwen traditional dance display initiated by the traditional ruler of Guneku village, His Royal Highness, HRH. Dr.Fomuki Ticha IX, brought together 13 Nkwen dance groups, a college of Meta traditional rulers headed by HRH. Dr.Fombo of Njindom Village, Meta Cultural, and Development Association, MECUDA, officials led by Prof. Njoh Oliver, the Mayor of Mbengwi Council Mr.Ndansa, the Member of Parliament Mrs. Prudencia, college of Clergy officials, thousands of Elites and non-Meta elites drawn from within and out of Meta land.

Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed disclosed that seedlings are under preparation across Ethiopia for this year’s planting season as part of the Green Legacy Initiative.

Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative is more than just planting; it is an integrated management of existing forests and biodiversity, the premier shared on X page.

Prime Minister Abiy added that the Green Legacy Initiative is also crucial to restoring mass degraded landscapes and improving the ecosystem.

‘As we prepare for this year’s planting season ahead of us, seedlings are under preparation throughout the country,’ Abiy stated.

As part of the ambitious Green Legacy Initiative to plant 50 billion trees in two phases, Ethiopia successfully planted 32.5 billion seedlings to date.

The initiative is a demonstration of Ethiopia’s long-term commitment to a multifaceted response to the impacts of climate change and environmental challenges, it was learned.

Ethiopia, Korea Need To Strengthen Ties Through Citiy Partnership


Addis Ababa: The long standing and historical ties between Ethiopian and Korea should be further strengthened through cities partnership in exchange and investment, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to South Korea, Dessie Dalkie said.

Ambassador Dessie Dalkie met with Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan City, one of Korea’s most important manufacturing and industrial city.

During the discussion, Ambassador Dessie said that Ethiopia and Korea have long standing and historical ties that should be further strengthened through cities partnership in exchange and investment.

The ambassador also asserted that creating partnerships between Ulsan and cities in Ethiopia will be an opportunity for both nations to deepen their amicable historical lies and progress together, according to Embassy of Ethiopia in Seoul, South Korea.

He urged the mayor to encourage companies in Ulsan to invest in Ethiopia as well.

Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, on his part said that his office will consider establishing exchange and investment partnerships be
tween Ulsan city and Ethiopian cities.

The mayor emphasized Ethiopia’s strategic significance in exporting products such as Hyundai cars to the African market.

He pledged that his office will closely collaborate with the Embassy to encourage companies in Ulsan to invest in Ethiopia and gain access to Africa’s huge market.

Ambassador Dessie visited Hyundai Motors Company and Hyundai Heavy Motors during his work visit to Ulsan city.
