GMAT™ Focus Edition Stands Alone in Business School Assessment as Previous Version Sunsets

GMAC’s redesigned test continues to win trust from candidates, schools

RESTON, Va., Feb. 01, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — After nearly three months of successful delivery of the GMAT™ Focus Edition, Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) today confirmed that it has become the only version of the GMAT exam available to prospective test takers around the world. GMAC, a global association representing leading business schools, delivered the updated version of the most widely used business school exam last fall in parallel with the existing GMAT to facilitate candidates’ in-progress preparation and applications for business school.

First launched seven decades ago, the GMAT has been the gold standard by continuously evolving to ensure it maintains its psychometric rigor while remaining a highly relevant indicator of candidate preparedness for graduate business programs. The test was revamped last year with a more efficient test taking experience and flexible new features to better support candidates on their journey of business education and career.

GMAC revealed the GMAT Focus Edition after extensive research efforts involving hundreds of school professionals and in-depth concept testing with thousands of prospective students globally. With just three 45-minute sections, including the newly developed Data Insights section, it is nearly one hour shorter than the previous version of the GMAT and requires less content to prepare. While the previous version of the GMAT exam is no longer available, its scores continue to be valid for five years. Test takers and schools have been provided with helpful information so that they can readily make use of scores from both exam editions during this period.

Ethiopia to Further Strengthen Economic Ties With Other BRICS Members


The first BRICS Sherpa and Sous-Sherpa meeting held in Moscow, Russia, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ethiopian delegation headed by Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia and Ethiopia’s BRICS Sherpa, Mamo Esmelealem Mihretu, participated at the meeting.

The delegation has also held fruitful discussions with Sergey Ryabkov, Sherpa of the Russian Federation, Professor Anil Sooklal, Sherpa of South Africa, Dammu Ravi, Sherpa of India, Ana Maria Bierrenbach, Sous-Sherpa of Brazil, and Wang Gang, Sous-Sherpa of China on the margins of the first BRICS Sherpa and Sous-Sherpa meeting for 2024 being held in Moscow.

In these bilateral meetings, his counterparts expressed their unwavering commitment to further enhance ties with Ethiopia.

Governor Mamo expressed Ethiopia’s commitment and readiness to play a constructive role in further strengthening BRICS.

He also highlighted the trade, investment, and tourism opportunities of Ethiopia.

The Sherpas and Sous-Sherpas have also agreed to strengthen

Ethiopia, Pakistan Agree to Bolster Economic Ties


Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan had a bilateral discussion in Islamabad on potential areas of economic cooperation.

The Ethiopian delegation was led by State Minister of Finance, Eyob Tekalign and the Pakistan mission was led by Finance Minister of Pakistan, Shamshad Akhtar.

Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Jameel Ahmad, and senior officials from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance were also present during the high-level meeting between the two countries.

Both sides held a good conversation on the subjects of mutual interest including the bilateral cooperation in financial sector of both nations, according to Pakistan Embassy in Ethiopia.

The two governments expressed their determination to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

ABBAY II Arrives at Djibouti Port Carrying 60,000 MT of Fertilizer


The first-ever largest bulk carrier Vessel, ABBAY II docked at Djibouti Port for the first time carrying Ethiopian cargo after she registered and started sailing under the flag of Ethiopia.

ABBAY II has brought 60,000 MT of Fertilizer consisting of two different types (NPS and NPSB) from Jorf Lasfer Port, Morocco.

This underscored the country’s growing involvement in maritime activities and points to increased capacity for handling larger cargo shipments, according to the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise.

Mitsubishi Expresses Desire to Engage in Trading Investment in Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone


The well-known international car manufacturer, Mitsubishi has expressed its desire to engage in trading investment in Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone in Ethiopia with the view to use the investment options available within it, according to Industrial Parks Development Corporation.

IPDC’s Investment Promotion and Marketing Deputy CEO Zemen Junedin, received the company’s General Manager, Shigyoshi, and spoke to him at his office.

Among the investment centers managed by IPDC, the General manager earlier visited Hawassa, Adama and Bole Limi Industrial Parks and stated that they want to engage in trade-related investments in Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone.

On his part, IPDC’s Deputy CEO Zemen, pointed out that the Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone is a new face of Dire Dawa which is currently hosting a large demand for investment in various sectors. And he strongly confirmed that IPDC will support Mitsubishi to do the research that will help it in trading investment and engage in the business.
