Burkina’s Ministry of Commerce Achieves Over 60% of 2025 Objectives by Mid-Year

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Crafts in Burkina Faso, led by Serge Poda, has reported a 60.85% execution rate of the activities planned under the objectives contract for 2025. This announcement came during a briefing on Tuesday, indicating significant progress halfway through the timeline set by the Prime Minister.

According to Burkina Information Agency, of the 12 priority actions identified, 60 activities were anticipated for completion by the first half of the year. As of June 30, 2025, more than half of these activities have been successfully executed. The focus has primarily been on combating commercial fraud, anti-competitive practices, and illegal price-fixing. In the industrial sector, efforts have led to the revival of several industrial units, including BRAFASO and MINOFA in Banfora.

Furthermore, over 11,000 new businesses have been authorized in the industrial sector. Measures have been taken to support the revival of struggling private sector units. In the craft sector, the completion of work on the National Center for Supporting Artisanal Cotton Processing stands out, with its official inauguration planned for the second half of 2025.

In governance matters, Minister Poda highlighted that the 32nd session of the General Assembly of State-Owned Companies focused on strengthening accountability and enhancing efficient management. Looking ahead, the Ministry plans to open several industrial units and operationalize the commercial unit "Faso Yaar" to provide affordable consumer products. Additional support is also intended for craftspeople and industrial project leaders.
