Efforts Will Further Be Exerted to Address Demands of Housing in Addis Ababa, Mayor Adanech Says

The Addis Ababa City Mayor, Adanech Abiebie said that the city administration has been exerting multifaceted efforts with a view to addressing demands of housing by the residents.

The Mayor made the remark at a handing over ceremony of 200 houses to impoverished elderly and persons with disability in Lemi Kura sub-city as well as residents of the city who have been relocated from Gullele and Arada sub-cities due to development projects.

During the occasion, the Mayor said that the city administration has been carrying out various activities to alleviate the housing problems of the residents.

Accordingly, some 20,000 houses have so far been constructed in partnership with government and the private sector, she added.

The Mayor also announced that the construction of 120,000 houses have been commenced, noting the continued efforts of the administration to address the housing demands of citizens.

According to her, the administration has a responsibility to ensure equitable distribution of wealth among citizens.

She also pledges to further continue the efforts being carried out to renovate and modernize Addis Ababa.

The six block houses handed over today to the beneficiaries have been constructed by a support obtained from investors.

Rallies Held in Oromia to Support National Reform Carried out Over Past Years

Rallies were held in various zones and towns of Oromia Regional State in support of the success registered over the past years following the reform carried out across the nation.

The rallies were held on Sunday across Oromia in connection with the 5th anniversary of the national reform of the country.

The peaceful demonstrators expressed their support to the successful achievements registered over the past five years in the country.

They have also pledged to further strengthen their support to sustain the changes by standing with the leaders of the reform and government particularly with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

They have also extended gratitude to the Prime Minister for the success registered over the past five years.

The participants of the rallies chanted against extremist attitudes and those who work to disrupt the reform agenda.
