Youth Encouraged to Apply for Climate Resilience Jobs

Samburu County: Youth from vulnerable families in Samburu County have been encouraged to apply for the Climate Resilience Service Program (CRSP), also known as ‘kazi mtaani’, which will operate for six months. Speaking after forming the County Implementation Committee (CIC), Samburu County Commissioner John Cheruiyot highlighted that the program is designed to benefit 677 youth and 23 supervisors across the three sub-counties.

According to Kenya News Agency, the programme not only aims to create employment but also to foster patriotism among the youth. Participants will engage in a range of duties including road repair, tree planting, housing, and the opening up of security roads. The government is specifically targeting youth aged between 18 and 29 years, and up to 35 years for those living with disabilities. Compensation is set at Sh500 per day, with supervisors earning Sh580.

Cheruiyot noted the importance of gender parity during the recruitment process and confirmed that considerations would be made for persons living with disabilities.
