Eritrean Cyclists Triumph at Africa Cycling Championship with Multiple Medals


Asmara: The Eritrean National Cycling Team achieved significant success at the Africa Cycling Championship 2025, which took place in Kenya from November 20 to 23. The team secured a total of 10 medals across both men’s and women’s categories, consisting of 3 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.



According to African Press Organization, the final road race on November 23 highlighted the talents of Eritrea’s cyclists. Olympian Merhawi Kudus excelled in the elite group, Awet Aman triumphed in the under-23 category, and Natan Medhanie stood out in the junior category, each earning a gold medal.



In addition to the gold medalists, Nahom Efrem achieved a silver medal in the junior category, and Mewael Germay also claimed a silver medal in the under-23 category. The women’s team contributed to the medal tally with Adiam Tesfu winning silver in the junior time trial. Monaliza Araya and Suzana Fesehaye both earned bronze medals in the under-23 category, while Birikti Fesehaye captured a silver medal in the road race.
