Dialogue Commission Launches Agenda-Gathering consultation in Afar Region

Addis Ababa: The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) has embarked on a crucial agenda-gathering process in Afar regional capital, Semera.

Marking as a significant step towards fostering national unity and addressing long-standing issues, this agenda-gathering process has been commenced in the region in the presence of representatives drawn from all segments of the society in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopian National Dialogue Commissioner, Ambassador Ayrorit Mohammed said the national dialogue process is inclusive and participatory that would enable it to resolve key challenges in the country.

According to Ayrorit, the commission has been doing encouraging activities in different regional states and city administrations.

The ongoing agenda-gathering process in Afar region will be held for the coming six days, she indicated.

Accordingly, this comprehensive process will involve over 1,500 participants representing diverse societal groups from 49 districts of the region.

Moreover, thi
s agenda-gathering phase is anticipated to encompass key stakeholders, including political parties, religious institutions, civic associations, government bodies and other various organizations within the region, she pointed out.

She also urged participants to actively engage in raising their agenda items during the six day agenda gathering process.

Ethiopia has embarked on a critical national dialogue effort that carries the potential to reshape its political landscape through a comprehensive examination of recent political developments, historical context, and the contentious issues at the core of the nation’s present challenges.
