Burkina has the means and skills to exploit its gold mines without the intervention of certain multinationals, said President Ibrahim Traoré, who had a direct exchange on Saturday with his fellow citizens on major issues of the country. "I do not understand why we know how to exploit gold and we let multinationals come and exploit our gold. We will do it ourselves," said President Traoré. According to Captain Traoré, all gold mines are on his agenda and he intends to withdraw the operating permits of certain multinationals for their exploitation by Burkina Faso. The Head of State maintained that the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship which has started mining in the South-West region will have other exploitation permits, if it increases in power. He also indicated that the Mining Participation Company of Burkina (SOPAMIB) is currently operational and that it will benefit from several mines for exploitation. Source: Burkina Information Agency
