Yaounde: Doctor Kingsley Che Soh, who has been serving as the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the North West region, has been appointed as the Director General of the Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. The appointment was made by a Presidential decree on Monday, November 25, 2024, and Dr. Che replaces Professor Enow Robinson Mbu, who has led the hospital since February 2021.
According to Cameroon News Agency, Dr. Kingsley Che has made significant contributions to the health sector in the North West region over the years. In May 2020, he and his team took proactive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic by disinfecting facilities and providing necessary equipment to hospitals in Santa and to travelers entering the North West region through Matezen.
In 2021, Dr. Che played a crucial role in enhancing healthcare services by facilitating the installation of eight hemodialysis machines at the Bamenda Regional Hospital. These machines were previously unavailable, which had forced patients
to travel to Bafoussam for treatment.
Furthermore, Dr. Che has been instrumental in implementing the Universal Health Coverage in the North West region. The region is one of seven where the health voucher scheme is currently being operationalized, reflecting Dr. Che’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare accessibility.
