Eritrean Nationals in Juba Commemorate 65th Anniversary of Armed Struggle

Juba: Nationals residing in Juba, Republic of South Sudan, celebrated the 65th anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle for Eritrean independence. According to African Press Organization, the event took place on 1 September at the Eritrean Embassy in Juba. Mr. Tsegay Mehari, Eritrea's Consul in Juba, spoke about the significance of the armed struggle that began on 1 September 1961, a response to the denial of Eritrea's right to independence under a federal arrangement. Mr. Teklebrhan Solomon, deputy chairman of the national committee, emphasized the importance of strong organizational capacity for achieving victory. He urged for reinforced efforts to achieve better outcomes. The celebration featured an artistic performance by students from the Eritrean community school in Juba, adding a cultural touch to the commemorative event.
