Burkina Minister of Sports Assessed at 50.05% in Mid-Year Performance Evaluation

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Annuuyirtole Roland SOMDA, has been assessed at 50.05% in the execution of his performance contract as of June 30, 2025. This assessment marks the mid-term evaluation of his efforts and accomplishments for the year.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the evaluation conducted by the Prime Ministry's relevant departments revealed that the Department of Sports has achieved half of its set objectives for the current year. In terms of financing youth projects, more than 1,000 projects, precisely 1,035, have been funded, totaling 1.5 billion CFA francs. Approximately 54% of this funding targets productive sectors such as agriculture, livestock, entrepreneurship, and processing.

Minister SOMDA highlighted the ongoing renovation of sports infrastructure as a key achievement. The 4th of August Stadium has been certified to international standards as outlined in his objectives. Additionally, the construction of a 15,000-seat stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso is progressing, with completion currently at approximately 45%.

The minister also emphasized efforts in supporting youth socio-professional integration and launching numerous mass sports competitions nationwide. To date, Burkina Faso has collected 147 medals across all categories and organized 203 leisure activities attended by over 267,000 people.

Minister SOMDA assured his commitment to intensifying efforts to meet or surpass the targets by year-end, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision.
