Ethiopian Police Chief Awarded Africa’s First Great Wall Commemorative Gold Medal Award

Addis Ababa: Ethiopian Federal Police (EFP) Commissioner General Demelash GebreMichael was honored with Africa’s first Great Wall Commemorative Gold Medal Award.

The Ministry of Public Security of China awarded the Great Wall Commemorative Gold Medal, the first of its kind in Africa, to Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash.

The gold medal was awarded to the Commissioner General in order to recognize his efforts in enhancing police-to-police relations between Ethiopia and China.

This includes his contributions to security cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as his role in the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation (EAPCCO) and regional collaboration with the Chinese police.

The recognition was also awarded to individuals currently serving as board members of the International Public Security Cooperation Forum, dedicated to ensuring the peace and security of citizens.

Commissioner General Demelash received the first gold medal of recognition in Africa from Wang Xiaoh
ong, the Chinese Minister of Public Security, it was indicated.

According to the Ethiopian Federal Police, Ethiopian Ambassador to China Tefera Daribaw, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai, Deputy Ministers of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and senior police officers attended the ceremony.
