Nyandarua In Process To Raise Two Towns To Municipality

Nyandarua County is in the final stages of elevating two major towns to municipalities that is Maili-Inne trading center in Ndaragwa and the Engineer trading center in Kinangop. Nyandarua Governor Dr. Moses Kiarie Badilisha held a successful meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Mr. Zacharia Njeru in his office where they discussed issues around the upgrading and eventual gazzettment of the towns, upon fulfillment of the remaining conditions and a remarkable progress was made. They also had a talk about the affordable housing programme where the Governor said the County Government has already set aside land for its implementation and they are glad that the upgrade of the several trading centers into townships will be of more benefit. ‘There are many benefits that come with upgrading, and it is our intention to not just target the two municipalities, but equally upgrade several towns into townships and urban centers for better service delivery,’ Badilisha noted. Earlier, at the county Assembly, the report on awarding of the municipal charters and upgrading of the two towns was adopted by the House paving way for the final stages of elevating these two major towns. Njeru also approved Governor Badilisha’s request for immediate replacement with a friendly and cooperative registrar at the land office. ‘I thank you for heeding my request to have a new person to manage our registry, and who is willing to serve our people. I now look forward to having operations moved to Ol Kalou under a new leader who has the interests of our people at heart,’ said Badilisha.
