Maurice Kamto fires back, lectures MINAT on his roles, responsibilities

The president of the Cameroon Rennessiance Movement, Professor Maurice Kamto has responded to warnings by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji,

In a letter on May 25, 2024 titled; ‘Cameroon does not need a Ministry of agitation, insult and blustering’, the opposition leader noted that the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MINAT) has become less than it’s original mission for it’s ‘permanent abuse of power.’

The firebrand political leader citing the Ministers remarks in a release on May 23, which labelled efforts of CRM and others to get Cameroonians massively registered on the electoral lists, as ‘adventurers in need of notoriety’, said the government official ‘is talking about himself, he who is chasing a notoriety which he sorely lacks, because there is no basis his notoriety could rely upon.’

Responding to the point which the MINAT boss highlighted of Divisional Officers permitting political parties to hold rallies, the Law Professor cum political leader argued that the same
quoted Law No. 90/055 of 19 December 1990 governing public meetings and manifestations in the Republic of Cameroon, talked of a declaration and not an authorization.

In the same release, the CRM chair expressed his solidarity and that of his militants and sympathizers to PCRN leader, Cabral Libii, and Barrister Paulin DJORWE, Acting National President of the MDR, who were also indiscriminately shot at in the MINAT release.

The CRM leader promised tough days ahead for the current regime.
