Chepalungu NG-CDF Increases Bursary Allocation To Boost Education

Chepalungu Constituency has increased the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG- CDF) Bursary allocation in tertiary institutions to cover needier students in the area. Speaking in Sigor town, Chepalungu MP Victor Koech said there was need to enroll needier students in the bursary programme in order to boost the education level in the area. Koech said the constituency had in the past allocated the bursary to only three students per institution saying during his tenure, the beneficiaries will be increased to five. He said the allocation per student would also be increased from Sh 4, 000 to Sh 8, 000 to make the bursary cover additional school fees. He was speaking when he gave out a total of Sh 40 million cheque to help secondary schools, tertiary institutions and technical colleges. The first time MP said education was dear to him having cooked ‘mandazi’ for sale during his studies at Moi University when he faced school fees challenges due to his poor family background. He reiterated that he would find other sources of funding in order to have needier students sponsored to acquire education.
