Bobo-dioulasso: The Benkadi rice mill in Bobo-Dioulasso has significantly enhanced its production capabilities, now producing nearly 2 tonnes of quality rice per hour, thanks to a state-of-the-art optical sorter. This advancement is part of the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and Food Self-Sufficiency (IP-P3A).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the rice mill, situated in the industrial zone of Bobo-Dioulasso, received this advanced equipment through the IP-P3A. The processing unit manager, Mansa Zerbo, highlighted that the modern optical sorter allows the unit to double its previous production capacity, which was one ton per hour.
During an event on Saturday, which included journalists, communicators, influencers, and activists, Mr. Zerbo expressed gratitude for the government's support. He noted the previous challenges in acquiring such advanced machinery and emphasized the benefits of increased rice production for the local population.
Mr. Zerbo pointed out that the new machine's efficiency enables it to operate around the clock, aligning with the production demands recommended by IP-P3A. He stressed the commitment to meeting the community's rice needs and promoting the consumption of locally produced rice.
The previous day, Friday, attendees also toured other projects under the Presidential Initiatives in the city of Sya, led by President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. These projects include weaving workshops, activities at the local prison and correctional facility, and the construction of a multi-sport stadium with a capacity of 15,000 seats for elite sports development.
Additionally, construction efforts are underway for a 1,000-seat amphitheater and the Belle Ville Communal Medical Center, part of initiatives focusing on quality education and health. Technicians reported that work is progressing swiftly despite the winter conditions.
Media professionals, communicators, influencers, and activists participated in a training workshop from August 6 to 10, 2025, organized by the National Office of Major Projects of Burkina (BN-GPB), to learn about the six Presidential Initiatives.
