Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries spearheaded a reforestation day in the Zongo district on Saturday, successfully planting 1,000 plants, with a focus on medicinal species. This initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and the Burkina Chamber of Mines, aiming to contribute to Burkina Faso's environmental sustainability efforts. Minister Gouba emphasized the significance of choosing medicinal plants for this initiative. He noted that besides their therapeutic properties, these species play a crucial role in com bating deforestation and climate change. Minister Roger Baro expressed gratitude for the Ministry of Energy's commitment to environmental efforts and called for the removal of illegal occupants from the green belt to prevent future issues. The Burkina Chamber of Mines, a partner in this initiative, also praised the project. Christophe Kaboré, president of the special delegation for the 3rd district, assured that the plants would be maintained and preserved. The event featured a tree-planting demonstration by children, highlighting community involvement in environmental actions.
