A 49-year-old man died after being shot in the chest with an arrow at Tjeye village in the Kavango East Region on Saturday.

The Namibian Police Force Crime Investigation Coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Sunday the incident occurred around 19h00.

It is alleged that the deceased, identified as Maseka Florian Sihami, was shot once and he died on the spot.

“An argument broke out between the suspect and the deceased while they were drinking at a local shebeen,” Kanyetu said.

He added that this was not the first time the two men had had an argument.

The next of kin of the deceased were informed and the suspect was arrested on the same day.

He was expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
