Young Agricultural Volunteers Discuss Challenges with Koper’s Prefect

Ouagadougou: The prefect, president of the special delegation of the municipality of Koper, Zakaria Dao, held an exchange meeting with the young agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) on Friday, September 19, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting took place in the function room of the Koper town hall, where the PDS was accompanied by the town hall’s secretary general, Nazirou Anaroua, and the land agent, Camille Hien. The gathering focused on the challenges faced by the twenty-four young agricultural VDPs from the commune who had received training in Matourkou.

The spokesperson for the group, Jacob Somda, highlighted their need for support from the PDS to effectively operate their production site. These young volunteers plan to start growing off-season crops, but they face obstacles in site development and the acquisition of necessary agricultural equipment and materials.

The VDPs’ designated site, a 15-hectare area in the village of Boulmonteon, was unusable during the wet season due to flooding. Despite this setback, the VDPs utilized borrowed land to apply the skills they had learned during their training.

Zakaria Dao assured the young agricultural producers of his support to help them commence production on their designated site. He encouraged them to persevere in their efforts, promising assistance and prospects for the successful completion of their work. “I encourage you to redouble your efforts in your activities to hope for a good harvest at the end of the season,” Dao concluded.
