Violence Against Protesters Reported in Several French Cities

Ouagadougou: Clashes between protesters and law enforcement took place in several French cities, leading to the violent arrest of many people, according to several media sources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a national strike on September 18 was organized to protest austerity measures proposed by the government. Reports of police violence have emerged from various cities, including Toulouse, Brest, and Marseille.

The response from the population to the police violence has included the use of smoke bombs, as noted by several media outlets. The incidents have sparked concerns and discussions over the disproportionate use of force by police in France during peaceful public demonstrations, a matter that has been repeatedly denounced by NGOs.
