UNICEF, UNFPA and Ethiopia Sign Over 86 Million USD Grant Agreement

Ethiopia, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed 86.18 million USD grant agreement to implement the ongoing country program in the 2017 Ethiopian Fiscal Year.

Out of the total grant, UNICEF committed 70 million USD to implement water, nutrition, education, health, sanitation, child protection, and gender projects, according to Ministry of Finance.

UNFPA on its part pledged over 16 million USD for family planning, maternal health, adolescent and youth development, and gender equality and woman empowerment projects implementation in the country.

The 2017 Ethiopian Fiscal Year annual work plan represents the final phase of the current country program (2020-2025) of the agencies, which has been in effect since 2020, it was learned.

The agreement was signed by Finance State Minister Semereta Sewasew, UNICEF Deputy Representative to Ethiopia Mariko Kagoshima, and UNFPA Deputy Representative to Ethiopia Taiwo Oluyomi.
