Three women among seven drug traffickers nabbed in a police raid in Njombe

Seven suspected drug traffickers between the ages of 31 and 48, among them three women were arrested and are now at the Public Security Police Station of Penja in the Moungo Division of the Littoral region.

They were presented to the public on October 7, 2023, alongside stocks of hard drugs of different types, including bank notes and coins alleged to be proceeds from the sale of these drugs. 18 mobile telephones seized from them were also displayed at the esplanade of the police station.

“These seven suspects who baptized themselves as ‘Brown Sugar’ were caught following a raid we launched to clean Penja from growing insecurity. We had received several complaints of theft, harassment, rape.” Explained Mahmoud Abba, Commissioner of the Njombe police district.

Police offers say, during interrogation, the seven suspects admitted their crimes.

“They confirmed they traffic these hard drugs for a living. The three women helped them to sell them.” One of the officers said.

After presenting them to the population, the security elements sent them back to their cells. All of them will appear before judges in the days ahead to defend themselves.
