The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE received, this Monday morning in audience, emissaries of the President of Niger, General Abdourahamane TIANI and his counterpart from Mali, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, President in office of the Confederation “Alliance of Sahel States”.
Led by the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization of Mali, Colonel Abdoulaye MAÏGA and the Minister of the Interior of Niger, General Mohamed TOUMBA, the delegation expressed the compassion and solidarity of the presidents of the AES and their respective peoples to the President of Faso and the Burkinabe people following the terrorist attack that occurred on August 24, 2024 in Barsalgho.
“We learned with great sadness and affliction of the unfortunate events, the cowardly terrorist attack targeting peaceful populations of Barsalgho. It is not only Burkina that is in mourning; it is the entire Confederation Alliance of Sahel States that is in mourning,” declared the Minister of State in charge of
Territorial Administration of Mali, spokesperson for the delegation, Colonel Abdoulaye MAÏGA.
He also recalled the determination of the three AES Heads of State to fight for the eradication of terrorism in space. “Every effort that is made goes in this direction. The total eradication of terrorism in the AES space is a goal that will be achieved thanks to the leadership of our Heads of State,” he said.
According to Minister Abdoulaye MAÏGA, military pressure is producing results on the ground. “Terrorist groups are increasingly avoiding military targets to attack peaceful populations. The objective is clear, it is to affect the morale of our populations. This objective will never be achieved,” recalled the Malian minister.
He is convinced that attacks against civilian populations will not be able to undermine the morale and determination of the Heads of State to achieve all the objectives they set for themselves by establishing the Confederation “Alliance of Sahel States”.
