SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT URGES VOTERS TO REGISTER FOR 2019 POLLS

PRETORIA– President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on South Africans, young and old, to visit their voting stations to check their status and to register for the 2019 elections.

This follows the appeal by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to all eligible voters to check their status at voting stations this Saturday and Sunday.

The date for the 2019 elections has not yet been announced but it hasn’t stopped Ramaphosa from urging everyone to register. The President and the IEC have especially targeted young people.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has revealed that it still doesn’t have the addresses for 2.8 million voters while a further 3.5 million addresses are currently classified as incomplete or generic.

All voting stations will be opened over the coming weekend for voters to check and update their status.
