Newly Inaugurated Elephant Paw Lodge Up to International Standards: Engineer Habtamu Tegegn

Addis Ababa: The newly inaugurated Chebera Churchura Elephant Paw Lodge has been built as a tourist attraction of international standards, Mines Minister Engineer Habtamu Tegegn said.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated the Chebera Churchura Elephant Paw Lodge in Dawro Zone of South West Ethiopia Region today.

The national park is home to the endangered African elephant species, buffalo, wild boar, deer and antelope, among others.

Several rivers cross the densely forested park and it has five lakes.

Various activities, including infrastructures that enable tourists to visit the park and increase benefits of the surrounding communities, have been carried out under Koysha, part of the Dine for Nation Project.

The minister noted during the inauguration of the park that Chebera Churchura Elephant Paw Lodge is one of the projects launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed two years ago as massive efforts have been underway to make the park a huge tourist attraction site in Africa.

The park has been built beauti
fully with the target to provide international standard and complete tourist services, he further pointed out.

South West Ethiopia Peoples Region Deputy Chief Administrator, Negash Wagesho said the tourism destinations that have been operational have provided opportunity to generate wealth in addition to maintaining the natural balance.

He added that these projects launched with Medemer thought are heritages to the future generation.

Dine for Sheger, Dine for Nation, and Dine for Generation initiatives initiated by the premier are clear manifestations of the country’s commitment to fully exploit its tourism potentials, leveraging the sector as one of the accelerators of Ethiopia’s inclusive economic growth ambitions.
