National Days of Patriotic Commitment in Benin: The Consulate General and Burkinabe Community Provide Aid to 300 Displaced Households


Banikoara: As part of the commemoration of the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JNEPPC), the Consulate General of Burkina Faso in Benin organized a day of solidarity in the Commune of Banikoara. This event was marked by the distribution of food and clothing to 300 displaced Burkinabe households.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was led by the Consulate General of Burkina Faso in Cotonou and sponsored by Salif Ouedraogo, CEO of Nobila Hotel Airport. It was the collective effort of Burkinabe nationals in the Republic of Benin, resulting in the distribution of essential supplies such as corn, rice, soap, mosquito nets, and clothing to the displaced households in the Alibori department.



The donation ceremony was chaired by Jean Yves Sawadogo, the Interim Manager of the Consulate General of Burkina Faso in Cotonou, and witnessed by Banikoara municipal authorities, the Burkinabe Shippers’ Council Representation, the Basic Council Office, and leaders of the Burkinabe Community. The Second Deputy Mayor, Alou Toko N’Doura, representing the mayor of Banikoara, acknowledged the gesture as a valuable complement to the efforts of Beninese authorities.



The Interim Manager expressed gratitude to the authorities of Burkina Faso and the Republic of Benin for their support and hospitality towards the Burkinabe community. He also thanked the activity’s Sponsor and various organizations and individuals for their support.



The 2025 edition of this initiative involves the municipalities of Banikoara and Parakou. The donation ceremony in Parakou will be scheduled by the Consular Representation and the Office of the Basic Council. During the event, Tadjoa Mathieu Yonli, Delegate to the High Council of Burkinabe Abroad for the Alibori department, was officially invested in his role.



The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Consulate General and their compatriots. The Interim Manager reassured them that under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traore, efforts are underway to enable them to return to their homeland.
