Mouhoun Dedougou Communal Week: Peace and Social Cohesion at the Heart of SECOD 2025


Mouhoun: The Governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, launched the fourth edition of the Communal Week (SECOD) on Monday, September 22, 2025. The event is themed “The contribution of the daughters and sons of the commune of Dedougou to the co-production of peace and social cohesion in a context of resilience: challenges and perspectives.” This initiative aims to reinforce the unity of the population around the ideals of solidarity, communal living, and inclusive development.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the official launch began with a popular cross-country race followed by an aerobics session, engaging people of all ages and demonstrating broad community support. Governor Bassinga commended the civic engagement of the population, emphasizing that peace and social cohesion thrive on solidarity and sharing.



He encouraged the residents of Dedougou to engage actively in various planned activities, including conferences, debates, sports, cultural competitions, and community initiatives. Dieudonne Tougfo, the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Dedougou, expressed gratitude to the authorities, partners, and the population for their support.



Highlighting the role of health and well-being in local development, the PDS noted the significance of starting the festivities with sports. He stressed the participatory nature of SECOD, urging every citizen to contribute to a united and resilient community.



SECOD will span a week, featuring a diverse program structured around four main areas. The sports and leisure section includes a cross-country race, women’s cycling, disabled sports, maracana, petanque, and scrabble tournaments. Art and culture will be celebrated through the Inter’School of Public Speaking, the School Arts Academy, the Laureates’ Night, and a multi-sector fair.



Social impact activities will involve a collective wedding, an accountability day, a business plan competition, and sanitation and reforestation operations. Communication and mobilization efforts will include media coverage, radio broadcasts on land security, and audiovisual presentations.



Under the patronage of the Minister of Housing and sponsorship by the President of the Burkinabe Regional Employers’ Council of Bankui, El Hadji Tinga Harouna Compaore, SECOD 2025 is envisioned as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and community-building. With the motto “One community, one destiny,” this fourth edition aims to strengthen the social fabric, enhance the visibility of community development efforts, and inspire future initiatives.
