Man arrested for alleged possession of cannabis worth N.dollars 5.6 million

A 34-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he was allegedly found in possession of a large volume of skunk cannabis valued N.dollars 5 673 500.

According to Namibian Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the accused, Gotlieb Sem was charged with dealing and possession of cannabis.

The incident reportedly happened around 14h40 in Lafrenz in Windhoek.

“Reliable information was received and thoroughly followed up, which led to the successful arrest and the recovery of the cannabis (skunk) valued at N.dollars 5 673 500,” Shikwambi said.

The accused was denied bail when he appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. His matter is postponed to 09 November 2023 for further police investigations, while his right to a formal bail application was explained.
