‘Let Ethiopia Produce’ Enhancing Competitiveness, Import Substitution

Addis Ababa: The national movement carried out under the theme ‘Let Ethiopia Produce’ has been accelerating the development of the industrial sector, increased the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector, strengthened innovation and import substitution, Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel remarked.

The annual meeting of Ethiopian ambassadors and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia deliberated on ‘Let Ethiopia Produce’ (Ethiopia Tamr’t) national movement and the new Industrial policy of Ethiopia today.

On the occasion, the Minister made a detailed presentation on the pillars, focus areas and key achievements of the Movement and the new Industrial policy.

He said that ‘Let Ethiopia produce’ Multi sectoral movement has accelerated the development of the industrial sector, increased the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector, strengthened innovation and import substitution.

The Minister further expressed that Ethiopian overseas Missions should scale up their efforts of sol
iciting technology transfers and capacity-building programs, promotion of Ethiopian products, searching for destination markets, and attracting FDI.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga who moderated the discussions underscored the contribution of Ethiopian missions in realizing the industrial policy and ‘Let Ethiopia produce’ movement.

During the discussions, participants have raised numerous questions, shared their experiences and insights on policy and implementation issues, according to Foreign Affairs Ministry
