Koulpelogo/HPV Vaccination: Authorities Mobilize for a Successful Campaign

Koulpelogo: In a show of solidarity and commitment, the administrative, customary, and religious authorities of Koulpelogo province unanimously supported the campaign to intensify vaccination against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This advocacy meeting, chaired by the High Commissioner of the Province, Saidou Ouedraogo, was held on Monday, October 21, 2025, in the meeting room of the Ouargaye health district.

According to Burkina Information Agency, HPV vaccination, an effective prevention method, aims to combat HPV infections, the main cause of precancerous lesions of the cervix. Cervical cancer represents a major public health problem in the country, due to its high incidence and lethality.

Faced with this challenge, it becomes imperative to protect young girls, the main targets of this disease. With this in mind, the vaccination campaign will take place from October 22 to 28, 2025, throughout the province and in all districts of the country. The main target of this campaign is young girls aged 9 to 12, an age group particularly vulnerable to this type of virus.

Vaccination strategies will be both fixed and advanced. In addition to regular vaccination sites, specific sites such as schools, markets, and places of worship will be used to maximize coverage and facilitate access to vaccination.

At the end of this advocacy meeting, local authorities reaffirmed their firm commitment to making this campaign a true success. All stakeholders, administrative and community, mobilized to ensure broad uptake and effective distribution of the vaccine.
