Kenedougou: The Secretary General of the Kenedougou province, Bassama Ko, installed Yacouba Barro as the new Prefect of the Kayan department. This installation took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, marking the beginning of Barro’s tenure in this administrative role.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Yacouba Barro was appointed by the Council of Ministers on September 4, 2025. He succeeds Moumouni Ouedraogo, who led the administrative district for over three years. Along with his responsibilities as Prefect, Barro will also serve as the President of the special delegation of the Kayan commune, as mandated by current regulations.
During the installation ceremony, the Secretary General, Bassama Ko, emphasized the importance of Barro’s commitment, availability, and rigor in fulfilling his duties. He also urged Barro to work collaboratively with all essential stakeholders within the Kayan department to ensure effective governance.
