Kourittenga: The Youth in Movement Association (AJeM) successfully concluded the 11th edition of its Maracana tournament at the Koupela sector 3 field, where Junior FC emerged victorious against Kourit FC. The final match, held under the theme “Kourittenga youth, through sport and our various contributions, let us be useful to our homeland: let us support the Faso Meebo initiative,” saw Junior FC clinch the title with a 2-1 win after a tense penalty shootout.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the match remained goalless during the two twenty-minute periods, with both teams effectively neutralizing each other’s efforts. As the game proceeded to penalty shootouts, Junior FC managed to secure the win, lifting the coveted trophy for this edition of the tournament.
The victorious Junior FC team was rewarded with an envelope containing 50,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, a ball, medals, and the tournament trophy. Kourit FC, the runners-up, took home a prize of 40,000 CFA francs, along with a set of jerseys and a ball.
During the event, certificates of recognition were distributed to individuals and contributors who played significant roles in the tournament’s success. The sponsor, Hubert Zoungrana, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative and praised the organizers for their dedication to community welfare, affirming his support for future endeavors.
Alain Desire Zoungrana, president of the Youth in Movement Association, conveyed his appreciation for the support received since the tournament’s inception. He highlighted the achievement of the association’s goals, including a donation to Faso Meebo, as part of their objectives for this edition.
The event was graced by the presence of administrative and customary authorities, underscoring the importance of the tournament to the community.
