Faso Mebo Holiday Camp: ‘Culture is the Root of a Youth Useful to Its Country,’ Says Minister

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, attended the Faso Mebo Holiday Camp as the guest personality, emphasizing the importance of cultural education for the youth. The Minister praised the camp as a unique experience akin to initiation in traditional societies, urging children to honor their parents for providing complementary training to school.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister OUEDRAOGO expressed that culture is essential for individuals and society, similar to how roots are vital for plants and trees. He highlighted that a nation cannot develop sustainable society and valiant citizens without a strong cultural foundation. The camp’s initiation aims to impart intrinsic values of traditional societies, shaping participants into “Burkimbi,” or upright citizens who are honest, hardworking, and respectful. These values are integral to the Popular Progressive Revolution in the country, and the camp seeks to instill them in the next generation.

The Minister visited various workshops during his camp visit, participating in activities such as laying paving stones and sharing meals with the campers.
