Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo chaired the 26th General Assembly of State Public Institutions (EPE) this Thursday, focusing on analyzing management reports and financial statements. He emphasized the optimal use of public resources to combat poverty.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Prime Minister expressed the need to review the management of the state’s various public establishments to assess their performance for the 2024 financial year, examine difficulties in executing their missions, and identify necessary actions for the continuous improvement of public services. This call comes amid budgetary constraints and growing social demands, highlighting the need for efficient resource use to meet strategic socio-economic goals.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of good management of material accounts, supported by suitable tools and competent professionals, as a strategic lever for optimizing public goods usage, rationalizing expenditures, and redirecting saved resources to socially impactful programs. The session focused on analyzing the management reports and financial statements of 109 public establishments across all categories for the 2024 budget year.
Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning, Aboubacar Nacanabo, noted that this session serves as the strategic orientation body to assess past accomplishments of EPEs and provide guidance for the coming year. He highlighted the focus on implementing inventory accounting and its challenges within public institutions, urging commitment to its principles for better management of non-financial assets.
During the 26th AGM, three communications were presented: an introductory communication to the session, a report on EPEs’ management for the 2024 financial year, and a summary of sectoral meetings on public establishments’ operations.
