DPM and FM Demeke Mekonnen Confers with Slovenian Counterpart

Addis Ababa: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, held a one-to-one discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia,Tanja Fajon.

The discussion covered bilateral and regional issues, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On behalf of the government of Ethiopia, Demeke forwarded a congratulatory message to his counterpart, as Slovenia has been elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The new embassy that Slovenia opened in Addis Ababa in May 2023 is a significant step to strengthen its relations not only with Ethiopia but also with wider Africa, Demeke stated.

The deputy prime minister and foreign minister also briefed his counterpart about Ethiopia’s ongoing role to ensure peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
