Burkina: New Products Subject to Special Import and Export Authorizations

Ouagadougou: The Council of Ministers in Burkina Faso has introduced three new products for special import authorization and eight new products for special export authorization. This decision was announced during a council meeting on Thursday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the new products requiring Special Import Authorization include soft drinks and non-alcoholic energy drinks. On the export front, the products now subject to special authorization include rice and its derivatives, soybeans, peanuts with shell, shelled peanuts, tomatoes, onions, fresh mangoes, and raw honey.

Government spokesman Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo explained that the revision of the decree regarding the list of products requiring special import and export authorization aligns with the new legislation concerning plastic packaging and bags in Burkina Faso. This measure is also intended to bolster the Government’s policy on securing independent and structured financing for the development of the agricultural, pastoral, and fishing sectors.
