Bale: The Citizen Initiative for Responsible Development (ICDR) of Poura donated a 4X4 pick-up vehicle to the Pouran gendarmerie on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The key handover ceremony, which took place at the Poura town hall, was preceded by a popular cross-country race and the beautification of the town hall’s facade with ornamental plants.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the ICDR, Oumarou Ouedraogo, emphasized that this vehicle will enable the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) to move swiftly and efficiently with a significant number of personnel to respond to emergencies in the commune. He noted that the ICDR has a history of providing donations and support both in Poura and other regions. The organization plans to continue aiding the state’s efforts in fostering citizen involvement in local development initiatives.
Moumouni Sawadogo, the president of the special delegation, expressed gratitude to the ICDR for their contribution. He encouraged the FDS to effectively utilize the vehicle to enhance security for people and property in the commune, which faces challenges due to gold mining activities.
The ICDR comprises various socio-professional groups that promote solidarity, facilitating the organization of such events. The award ceremony also featured a cross-country race involving community members, defense and security forces, and administrative authorities. The participants engaged in a tour of the town’s main routes, followed by an aerobics session. Additionally, the association enhanced the town hall’s appearance with ornamental plants.
