Attacks in Northern Mali: ECOWAS strongly disapproves of any foreign interference

General

Ouagadougou: The ECOWAS Commission on Monday firmly disapproved of any foreign interference in the attacks that occurred at the end of July in northern Mali and marked by the presence of Ukrainian soldiers alongside the terrorists.

The ECOWAS Commission ‘expresses its strong disapproval and strong condemnation of any foreign interference in the region that may constitute a threat to peace and security in West Africa, as well as any attempt aimed at dragging the region into current geopolitical clashes,’ the organization said in a press release on Monday.

ECOWAS was reacting to the deadly attacks that occurred in northern Mali at the end of July, marked by the presence of Ukrainian soldiers alongside the terrorists and the support of Ukrainian officials.

The West African institution strongly condemned these attacks and offered its condolences to the Malian people.

Remember that, following these attacks, Mali broke off its diplomatic relations with Ukraine on Sunday, accusing it of being led by puppets and
neo-Nazis in the pay of international terrorism.

Let us specify that Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger left ECOWAS on January 28, 2024, believing that the body is manipulated by Western powers and that they have not benefited from frank support in the fight against terrorism.
