Addis Ababa Minibus Taxi Associations To Provide Free Transport Services to Citizens Planting Saplings Friday

Addis Ababa: Addis Ababa minibus taxi associations have announced that they will provide free transport services to citizens who will be on board planting samplings in Addis Ababa next Friday.

Recall that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called upon the public to join hands in planting 600 million seedlings in a day by 23 August, 2024.

The premier also called on citizens of all ages to actively participate in the initiative, with adults planting over 20 saplings each and teenagers planting more than 10 on August 23.

As part of the national effort to plant seedlings, the minibus taxi associations will provide complimentary transportation services in selected areas to encourage citizens plant saplings.

Ayalew Seyum, Chairman of the Addis Ababa City Minibus Taxi Associations emphasized in view of the negative effects of climate change, we have to intensify plating samplings.

The associations have a history of supporting the Green Footprint Program, not only through participation but also by providing free transpor
tation services.

Tsehay Taxi Owners Association said it is committed to fostering a culture of providing care to seedling and 300 members of the association have pledged to participate in the program and offer free transport services.Nuredin Ditamo, chairman of the Blaine Taxi Owners Association said the association will actively participate in the seedlings planting program and provide free transportation people who are planting during the day.This year’s green footprint program aims to plant a record of 7.5 billion saplings nationwide.
