Ethiopian Motorized Battalion Confirmed Adequately Staffed, Equipped


Addis Ababa: The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has given confirmation to the Ethiopian Motorized Battalion as it is currently in unwavering position in terms of military personnel and weapons.

A delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force office in Nairobi, Kenya, is currently in Ethiopia to oversee the preparedness of Ethiopia’s motorized battalion that would be contributed to the force.

They conducted a pre-deployment verification and assessment forum in Bishoftu town in the Oromia region on Monday.

A readiness verification delegation led by Brigadier General Paul Kahuria Njema, Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, has today toured the motorized battalion base that Ethiopia has set up for the Eastern Africa Standby Force.

On the occasion, the director confirmed that the force prepared by Ethiopia is fully equipped with weapons and personnel, and is ready for duty, according to established standards.

He also emphasized that Ethiopia’s readiness underscores its commitment to peace
and security in the region.

Additionally, the director noted that the readiness assessment team will visit other member countries to make observations and highlighted Ethiopia’s symbolic experience in this regard.

Brigadier General Getachew Ali, the Commander of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, said that the evaluation criteria of the team are in line with international and African Union standards.

In this regard, the team has confirmed that Ethiopia has prepared and organized forces based on practical inspection and readiness assessment criteria.

The Brigadier General highlighted Ethiopia’s extensive experience in maintaining peace and security in the region, emphasizing that its current preparations demonstrate a strengthened commitment to this cause.

Germany Strategic Partner of Ethiopia, Foreign Affairs State Minister Mesganu Says


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Meganu Arga highlighted that Germany is a key strategic partner to Ethiopia and emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

Today, State Minister Mesganu Arga, met with Heiko Nitzschke, Germany’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, at his office.

Nitzschke expressed his commitment to collaborating with Ethiopia to strengthen these bilateral relations.

They discussed issues concerning the Horn of Africa, regional matters of mutual interest, and Ethiopia’s significant role in the region, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

EASF Director Says Ethiopia’s Preparedness to Enhance Standby Force Shows Commitment to Peace


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s preparations to build a modern army and weaponry that enhance the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), demonstrates the country’s commitment to playing a leading role to ensure peace and stability in the region, EASF Director Brigadier General Paul Kahuria Njema observed.

The above remark was made by the director during a visit to the Motorized Battalion military base set up by Ethiopia for EASF.

Recall that the regional organization of 10 African countries, including Ethiopia, was established in 2004 with the goal of enhancing peace and stability in the region.

A delegation from EASF has visited the Motorized Battalion military base set up by Ethiopia for EASF.

The delegation has given confirmation to the battalion as it is in a very good position that meets continental and international standards in terms of military personnel and weapons.

Ethiopia’s preparation demonstrates the country’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, Brigadier General Njema said.

The other EASF members, a regional organization established in 2004, with the goal of enhancing peace and stability in the region are Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda.

Four die, 66 injured in Santchou accident

Two soldiers killed in Munyenge


The two victims had left their duty posts to relax nearby but were ambushed on their way back on Monday night.

Munyenge, a locality in Muyuka subdivision in the South West region – where Kome and Mengue were sent from Tiko on mission.

The attack happened on the same night when Ambazonia fighters killed a BIR in Kumbo, North West region.

Separatists kill soldier who went visiting girlfriend


A member of the BIR called Bello Bouba from Meinganga, popularly called Valséro, was brutally murdered last night around 8 PM in Tadu, Kumbo, North West region, by Separatist fighters.

His colleague escaped. He was accused by his colleagues of killing his partner but only discovered Tuesday morning that they were attacked.

CNA learned that self-styled Separatist commander, Major General Viper, and Newsman ambushed Bello who was visibly weak after celebrating an Epaulet award the same day. He reportedly went to visit his girlfriend before being tracked and killed by fighters under FM Mad Dog.

The girl is said to have called the attention of Separatists that her ‘boyfriend’ was drunk and helpless.

This incident marked the second soldier from Meiganga to be killed in the ongoing Anglophone conflict.
